I’m thrilled to launch my brand new copywriter website, designed on a fresh but well-aged domain I’ve had for years. I’ve built it myself in WordPress, neatly proving that WordPress has to be one of the easiest, most intuitive CMS on the planet. What a joy it is to work with.
Why the new url? I built my original website, helpinthecity, in spring 2006, choosing the name because we lived in Brighton at the time. Now we’ve moved to rural Devon, ‘helpinthecity’ isn’t at all appropriate. It’s just bemusing. Baffled new clients kept asking me about the reasoning behind the name.
Obviously I’ve migrated all my blog posts over, a dream when you use the WP importer tool. I’ve re-mapped keywords to my pages, combining some pages, deleting others and making sure to 301 redirect the lot to the new site. I’ve 301 redirected every blog post to its new destination as well. I’ve fixed a few broken links. And I’ve rewritten a lot of the content, taking the opportunity to make everything sound better.
If you’re thinking about migrating your site to a new url and want to refresh the content to bring it up to date, I can do that for you. It’s also cool to update existing blog posts with the latest developments, insights, science and so on. I can do that for you, too.
In the meantime, if you spot anything crazy here on my new copywriter website, let me know!
