W B Yeats – Freelance writing inspiration

It’s peeing down outside, blowing a hooley, and I’m daydreaming of hot, fragrant summer days.

This poem by W. B Yeats makes the hair on my arms stand up with pleasure. I love its simplicity, eloquence and wistful, heartfelt yearning, all of which help it banish the winter blues.

Lake Isle of Innisfree

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean rows will I have there, a hive for the honey bee,
And live alone in the bee loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet’s wings.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core.
I can almost feel the sun on my head. Oh, lovely.

Freelance writing – Making the best of products and services

As a freelance writer it’s my job to write copy that gives readers as much pleasure as possible. You can only wax so lyrical about products like industrial valves and acne cream, but it’s my job to make everything I write about as appealing, attractive and desirable as possible.
