Freelance copywriting: Do you need an industry expert?

I sometimes write about insurance. I must admit it’d be more of a challenge if I didn’t have experience in the sector, simply because the concepts and language are so particular to the insurance industry. But there’s no real reason why an insurer would need an expert in the field. Experienced freelance copywriters deliver projects across any and every sector, no matter how complex and jargon-ridden.

Freelance writers are natural researchers

One, professional freelancer writers are comfortable with research. And they know the difference between good and poor quality information.

Two, copywriting is about communication. And good communication involves plain, simple language whether your target audience is made up of Nobel Prize winners or Darwin Award holders. Freelancers are adept at translating even the muddiest proposition into something readable, entertaining, intelligent and super-clear. And they do it well whatever their level of industry knowledge.
